"Support for Japanese in V4?" Topic

Hi, all. I picked up a Japanese army for FoW a few years ago, but then my group promptly lost interest. So I've been out of the loop for a while. I'm curious how much support this army has in V4? Is there any way to currently play Japanese in any of the periods? What about Mid-War? Are there plans to include points for Japanese troops in the new Late War material that Battlefront is producing?

I recall reading that Battlefront said the Pacific was a long ways off. Too busy producing books and cards for every couple of months in late-war.

However, there is no reason you couldn't use the PDFs they posted to modify the army lists, i.e. eliminating most command stands, and use v4. I did up some cards even for late-war Japanese vs. Marines. Seemed to work.

I don't think that BF's priorities have the Japanese very high up on their list of things to do because they didn't have a lot of vehicles and AFVs.

Like 21e said, right now you can play the Japanese in V4, but you have to use the old books for them. They haven't updated the Japanese or Marines to the full V4 standard. However with this book:

Give you everything you need to play with your older edition armies in V4. You CAN'T play balanced games against current V4 forces using Battlefront's points system because the points scale has been seriously changed (current V4 works on a 100 points scale vs. V3's 1500 points), but you can play with your old armies using the V4 rules (I think of it as being V3.5). The second book is available on-line for free. The rulebook is a bit harder to find but there are copies of it on Ebay or Amazon for fairly reasonable prices.

So if you have the books and the interest to convert your armies over then you can play V4 right now with your current toys.
