I don't know… string a few extra pieces together to make it a bit wider and longer, and cut down a blue-water game mat to fit inside the perimeter --- seems to me that would work. |

Most naumachia were much larger and were mainly modified natural arenas so using a full size uncut playmat one could place purpose build terrain pieces on it for the seating facilities to go on and perhaps show a canal or river with possibly a lock as an entrance on one side or corner so that spectators could be on 2 or 3 sides of the arena with players having access to reach the ships via the open side(s). Of course a spectacle isn't a spectacle without spectators and those nice modular units could accommodate several hundred. |
