Hmmm, I'm not an expert by any means but the uniforms have the look of being found in the dress-up box.
I'm going to put the lines "How fatal is it doctor?" – "Very fatal", down to poor translation rather than hilariously bad script writing.

This reminds me though, whatever happened to that Edgar Ramirez movie about Bolivar? I've never seen a release of it in the wild.

Some years ago I had a Chilean girlfriend with whom I recall watching some of a South American TV series about the Wars of Liberation. The thing that stood out was the bolt action rifles that appeared in many scenes.

The series looked pretty bad to me. If you're interested in Simon Bolivar I recommend "The Liberator."
