Let's go again…..

"Star Trek Picard series which will air sometime later this year on Amazon Prime (and on CBS All Access for those who care to give the streaming service their money). Not much is known about the plot of the new spin off from the Star Trek franchise, other that it will see Patrick Stewart playing famous Enterprise captain in his older years, breaking his retirement (which he enjoyed producing vine and playing with his new dog) and going on a new interstellar adventure. What we do know now is that, much to the joy of Star Trek fans, his old Enterprise crew members Deanna Troi (Martina Sirtis), Data (Brent Spiner) and Commander Ryker (Jonathan Frakes who is also directing some of the episodes) will all appear in the series together with Jerry Ryan's Seven of Nine! Santiago Cabrera and Harry Treadaway will lead the new cast. The more contemplative series will have one storyline, not episodic plots."

Bum lead, Tango. All I get is:

"Video unavailable
This video is not available."

You are such a tease…

They're going to have a plot? That's nice of them. But those are not Star Trek fans being joyful: those are Next Generation fans.

I watched that man for three seasons before giving up, and cannot imagine what sort of crisis you'd call on him for. Perhaps if the Federation had an enemy you could lecture to death?

That worked. Thanks!

Patrick just looks too old to be believable as a strong character, IMO.

"Seven of Nine is back"… and she still looks good!

This looks pretty good.

I'll certainly give it a try.

Maybe on Netflix or Amazon Prime. Maybe. Yes, the clips look good, so maybe…but not by paying for yet another streaming service.

Choctaw23 Jul 2019 9:15 a.m. PST

CBS All Access. Pass.

…."Seven of Nine is back"… and she still looks good!…

Indeed!…..

What about DATA?… is he the last young "brother" from the movie?…

Unpopular Opinion: TOS was only good because it made TNG possible. Picard is the superior captain and TOS spin offs are bad.

Don't like the pew pew lasers, give me a proper hand phaser that has a proper beam.
Not that JJ verse "star trek" that's really just star wars crap.

Seven of nine looks better than she did in voyager. Age has suited her well.

Not unpopular here.
ToS is unwatchable: cheesy & corny beyond my comfort level.

I have great affection for the original series, but have to admit there are parts that make me wince.
In the UK hopefully we'll get it on Netflix. I like it that there are to be cameos from other characters. The continuity nerd in me appreciates this.

I wonder if picard will surrender in the first 3 minutes or get his butt kicked by the holodeck for the zillionth time?

Until it's on free to air, it ain't Star Trek.

Catoblepas31 Jul 2019 11:32 a.m. PST

That Romulan looks like he walked off the set of one of Peter Jackson's films. For something that's marketing itself so much on being a nostalgic return to TNG, why couldn't they just keep the TNG Romulans? I mean, it's not as bad as DISCO's Klingon redesign, but still disappointing.

Looks intriguing, but with Kurtzman involved I'm putting the breaks on any hype I might have until it comes out and I get a chance to see some reviews.

Yeah, I was thinking that he had a mirror-universe Legolas vibe!

Personal logo javelin98 Supporting Member of TMP31 Jul 2019 11:44 p.m. PST

And is Data a CGI character? Brent Spiner had put on a ton of weight, last I saw him.

Tango0101 Aug 2019 3:37 p.m. PST

Agree about "Legolas"… (smile)

This is Data little brother… the same of the "Nemesis" movie…
