As it is the 25th anniversary of the historic events in Normandy in WWII we dusted off our WWII toys to play this scenario, the ill-fated brigade attack on Le Mesnil-Patry on June 11, 1944 by the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade in support of the neighbouring forces of 30th Corps. It was a hastily planned attack with no recce and historically was a dismal failure, described by one British journalist as " the charge of the Light Brigade". This scenario, written by Paddy Green and Richard de Ferrars as part of their Blood and Honour series, was played in 1/72 scale on a 6' X 9' board using Battlefront WWII rules, with some home grown alterations. Here's a link to the full AAR with lots of pics: link And here are a few pictures of the action:

… it is the 25th anniversary of the historic events in Normandy in WWII [Mr. Picky] It is, in fact, the 50th anniversary of the 25th anniversary of the historic events in Normandy. But who's counting? [/Mr. Picky] -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

Duh. I wrote that quickly… Thank you Mr. Picky. I did, of course, mean to say the 25th anniversary of the 50th anniversary of the historic events in Normandy… Glad you liked the table, Forrester! It was a four hour build and one of my greatest pleasures in wargaming. |

It's correct on the report. And it looks like an impressive game. |

Mark 1, more pickily, using your mathination that would make it the 1,250th anniversary. Mr. Slavin have been missing your posts. Glad to see a new one. |
