OK so print war gamer's are also sad. Metal war gamers have too many unpainted minis. Print war gamers have too many printers. A friend of a friend had a Momoprice Select mini V2 for sale, he had used it only for a month or two. It was on offer with lots of bits for about the price of a new Printer so was a bargain.
It was like new, set-up was minimal, plug in level bed as per instructions no effort.
As I use simplify 3D just re-set to Select mini defaults.
I figured better to fail attempting the exquisite than succeed at the utterly contemptible so first run was a "real Scale" 1/144 Milan Fire team. About as tough as it gets. Imagine my surprise when off it comes as good as the Replicator 2. I have done a few prints now and its good.
Key issues.
It is slower, about half the speed or less of the Replicator but its reliable so no Biggie, but things will take longer so big runs need to be planned.
However a big plus it uses a Build Tack type surface. Its not been changed since new and its incredible. The prints come off the surface with minimal effort using a BLUNT safety razor blade with no damage to the surface. Far easier than the Replicator Lexon plate.
Heating time for the bed and nozzle is no longer than the Replicator.
The verdict – for the £130.00 GBP or so of a new one it will not disappoint out of the box. I have not tried it with Cura slicer but see no reason why it would not be quite good using that not the expensive Simplify3D I use. So as an introduction or for small jobs, Build volume is only 120 mm by 120mm by 120mm its very good value and tucks away nicely being small.
Noise is not much different to the Replicator and its in my man cave under the desk running while I'm working so acceptable but not silent by any means.
Questions just ask!
