Yeah. My own first "large Napoleonic participation game" was 50+ years ago with 4,000 30mm castings 20 players and two Size Humongous tables. Thinking back, the senior people involved would have agreed with most of your thinking. I think the major differences were (a) that they expected players in a game that size to already know the rules, and (b) rather than do-overs, green players were under the supervision of veterans, so things were caught at the map-marking/order-writing stage. |
