Even more silliness in the Straits of Hormuz:

Makes me wonder when some will get serious about putting and end to this, and punishing the leadership that is encouraging this piracy?

All of these incidents could be crafted into an unconventional wargame though – US/NATO/Allies have limited forces and very restricted rules of engagement.

Other side gets freedom of action.

Game play is for a variety of victory condition tracks: political, economic, and military.

Your link doesn't.

Dealing with Iran is very difficult for a small plethora of reasons. The government is unpopular, until it is threatened. So the leadership likes to be threatened.

Armed conflict with Iran would be winnable, but unbelievably inconvenient. The repercussions would be gargantuan. The US doesn't use much of the oil coming through the Strait of Hormuz, but nearly all our friends do. And China. China would have a conniption.

So expect the current nonsense to continue. Economic sanctions are only mildly effective, but they're the only practicable measure.

Israeli intelligence has been able to operate very successfully in Iran. I suspect that if Iran gets close to a bomb the Israelis may do something.

In the meantime the behavior of the Iranian leadership is irritating, but it will simply continue.

The way to deal with Iran is to get China mad at them at the same time the US is mad at Iran.
