… Warhammer 40,000 to Live-Action TV.

"The grim dark future of the 41st Millennium is coming to live-action television for the first time—and Games Workshop has recruited the creator behind Amazon's Man in the High Castle adaptation, Frank Spotnitz, to do so.

Announced today by the wardens of the Warhammer 40K and Warhammer: Age of Sigmar tabletop gaming franchises—and the vast multimedia empire of books, comics, games, and other adaptations behind them—Spotnitz's Big Light Productions will helm a live-action TV show based around the character of Gregor Eisenhorn…"

Ah, the narcissism of the video people! The creator of "The Man in the High Castle" is Philip K. Dick, who has been dead some years.

Admittedly I only skimmed the article. Did it mention where it would be aired?

Well said, Robert Piepenbrink, and StarCruiser! If they had qualified it by calling Spotnitz, "the creator of the Man In The High Castle TV series," it would be okay, but not just using the title as they did. I doubt Frank Spotnitz himself would be cool with that.

Uesugi my friend: judging by that article it's too preliminary for them to have a network or streaming service involved yet. Sounds like they wrote a big check to bring Spotnitz & his production company onboard. Now he will either write a pilot script and/or a series "bible," or he & GW will take the idea out as a pitch to potential networks/streamers. If forced to bet I would put money on the former, though you never know. There's a chance it will be bought by someone, make it through the TV development process, go into series production and end up on a cable network or streamer, but no guarantee.

Armand -- who said they liked it???

Greetings Guru! Never expected to see you slumming in the 40k Morass!

I do have good hopes for this show but I'm afraid if it ends relegated to Sci-Fi or FX it may be a PG-13 affair, or soft R at best. (Much like all of GW's animated movies and video games).

I think it would need the HBO, BBC or Netflix treatment to do it justice.

Despite it s solid writer and Showrunner nothing could doom it quicker than a small budget.

It will probably be another year before we hear anything solid.

Fingers crossed. I hope for the best case scenario for them.

Lol, good question on your part, but for some reason Armand cross-posted to the 19th Century Discussion board. I'm no expert but I never thought of 40K as a steampunk universe, so maybe just a typo. Didn't know you were a 40K guy yourself! All good, as it allowed us to cross paths! Hey, sorry to chance subjects from the OP, but I know you're into Medievals -- any chance you watched Season 2 of KNIGHTFALL on History (formerly The History Channel)??? My partner and I were Exec Producers and wrote a bunch of it. It was super violent and intense, and more more historically inclined than Season 1. I think you would dig it.

I have not! But I'm gonna look it up now!

Funny story about me & 40k….I walked into my local hobby store 32 years ago to see if they had any 100 Years War, Wars of the Roses or Samurai miniatures.

He only carried Sci-Fi and Fantasy so I picked up a book called Rogue Trader (Ie Warhammer 40k First Ed) and the rest is history.

I'm still a hardcore history nut first and foremost. I have Vikings, Wars of the Roses, & 30 Years Wars minis waiting to be painted as I type.

Hope your kids & Brother are doing well. The wifey & I will Def check out Nightfall.

U.K.
