The city of Ciudad Rodrigo featured large in the events of the Peninsular War and was laid siege to by French and Allied armies.

Good post. Very informative. I was in Spain this year as well, but only saw Cuidad Rodrigo from as distance as we hurtled towards Salamanca. |

The most evocative of places. Far more so than any of the battlefields, in my opinion. |
