This year at Historicon the HAWKs again gave away six sets of painted armies to young gamers. See some details here: bucksurdu.com/blog/?p=8991

This is our attempt to grow the hobby.

I can't order people around, but if it's within your desires and capabilities you should endeavor to bring young people into the historical side of the hobby. The sun is really setting here.

I missed the HAWKS room on the Friday I was here, but otherwise tried to note the level of young people around. There were plenty, sure but the biggest concentrations of them were playing scifi/fantasy games.

Nice! That is a great idea

Flashman14, I don't understand your point. All of our Armies for Kids games have been historical.

My daughter is going to attend her first Historicon next year. This is the game that has her the most excited. Thank you for putting your time into making the historical side more accessible to our children. She loves fantasy and dragons but she also loves lines of brightly colored cavalry. What else could excite a nine year old girl more than a dragon? How about a regiment of French Hussars!

That's great to hear, Meveeder; and thank you for your kind words regarding our project!

We'll try to prepare something that has some colorful cavalry, though we can't make make any promises at this point.

One more reason to admire the HAWKs!

There was a gal (maybe 8 years old?) at the Sunday morning Wally's Basement. Was very excited about this hobby, so much so that I gave her and her (brother, I assume) each a military vehicle from the ones I was selling. She wanted to get everything she saw. Her mom, with the purse strings, had to work hard to get her to focus and reduce demand. Looks like good news to me.

Buck & HAWKS company, simply awesome, as usual. From across the continent I send you my sincere thanks as a historical wargamer and dad!
