The Monkeys were a band first then they made a show? That would disqualify them, as much as I like them. Flash Gordon 80s song was by Queen, not a fictitious band in the film.

The Monkees weren't a band before the TV show. They were actors, they auditioned, and were put together. They also only did limited musical work during the first season, but eventually ended up being a band. |
