Hello im putting together the Rorkes drift storehouse together from 4Ground. I dont particularly like the shaggy look the fake fur pieces gives for the thatch roof. Could anyone give me some ideas on how they used these pieces? I heard some peole paint theres and or apply pva glue to it ???

I saw one well rendered thatched Zulu War building. The maker used fine straw and anchored it using unscented hairspray.

I thatch mine with Woodland Scenics Field Grass (color Natural Straw) applied in layers with wood glue, then give each layer a haircut before gluing the next layer. Inexpensive, but requires some time and labor.
I have used this method on Rorke's Drift and Alamo models.

Comb PVA glue through it, it will look a LOT better.

Lion in the Stars. Is this straight pva glue or watered down??

Water it down about 50%, it will make it a lot better.

I've done several of their Viking age huts with thatched roofs. Watered down (~50%) white glue worked well. I used an old toothbrush to spread the glue and finish the thatch.
