The Bovington show (tank museum) was held on Saturday 13th July. Really nice show. Well organised. The Bovy staff were excellent in terms of help and friendliness. The museum has a top quality shop of books, models and bits. The games were good. Of particular note would be the massive D day gold beach game, dinosaur game and desert game WW2. Plenty of traders and a good/busy bring and buy. The museum was jolly stuffy today though. The sun beating down mercilessly, which is very strange for the UK. Short trouser weather. I had a good look at the tanks too. That Pz II Luchs looks really good. That Russian welding looks really bad. Met a lot of good gamers, including some from Tanzania! The show does have space to grow and I hope it will. No real criticisms. In addition a £400.00 GBP + cheque to ex-service men's charity. All in one day, splendid. Hope someone has done some photos? |

I'll second that (apart from the sun bit – it was cloudy all the time I was there!). Like I said in an earlier post: small but perfectly formed. |

All sounds good. I would love to go to this so I hope the organisers can build on this success and grow the show further for next year and beyond. As a public event, it is important due to its wider reach – allowing museum visitors to get a glimpse of wargaming. Who knows, it may well encourage some new participants. Photos would be good please |

Peter Pig put on a pirate land raid participation game. You are right, members of the public (non gamers) did join in. Maybe they will become gamers, or at least have a positive opinion about gaming? It also gives members a "reason" to stop and chat. |

I only found out it was " back on" via the Entoyment site, if they hadnt listed it i would not have known it was on. I thought it was very quiet compared to previous years, i would guess that there were less than half the games and traders as previous years. I dont know if this is a result of changes in organisation, It was so quiet i left around 1.30- 2.00pm Seeing as its booked for another year , ill give the show another chance ( as i live local), I spent my 14 GBP entry fee, met up with some friends ( who were not traders or display gamers at the show) and they felt the same. |

Moonflight I organised the show this year, there may have been fewer traders and gamers than in the past but a lot I spoke to had a good day. Speaking to the museum the footfall was up 13% for the same Saturday last year. We raised over £500.00 GBP for the Royal British Legion. There were a couple points raised and as I have been asked to organise the show next year I will look to address these. Hopefully see you there next year. |
