Airport (original 1970 version) follows the book very closely except the movie removed the subplot involving the air traffic controller that was going to commit suicide after his shift that night. However, after being involved with getting the plane back changes his mind.

The 1990 version of Treasure Island with Charlton Heston as Long John Silver, and the 1993 version of Heart of Darkness with John Malkovich were two made for TBS movies that were very well done.
