… Sig Sauer M18 by 2023 "The U.S. Marine Corps is adopting the Sig Sauer M18 as its 9mm service pistol, ushering the end a 35-year era for the Beretta M9. The Marines are following the cue of other branches, which have also adopted variants of the Sig Sauer 320 handgun. link Main page

I saw that … We had the .45 then that was replaced with the Beretta. I could use both effectively. But that was a long time ago. I know Sig does make some good weapons … so this my be a good change. |

Having fired both I would say that while the Beretta is very nice the Sig Sauer is a beautiful handgun |

They just have a good marketing team that enlisted the marines for advertising their brand. Wouldn't be at all surprised if the procurement officers received m a kickback from the lobbyist. Same marketing thing that occurs in rations. Why is it Tabasco and not some other hot sauce in the MRE's? Lots of money to be made selling redundant stuff to the military. |

I did like the MREs over Cs … and of course the MREs with Tabasco was a welcomed addition. However, let's admit it. The procurement of military equipment, rations, etc. Goes into competition of the producers. And sometimes the low bidder gets the contract. For better or worse. E.g. the first BDUs we got had the nasty habit of the arms & legs shrinking at different lengths. And the black faded to a shade of "lavender" after a few washings. My troops had to use black shoe polish to remedy that. |

Respect to the M9. Probably kept this Marine alive. |

Yeah, he may of had a shoot out at close range with one of the factions of Arab/islamic forces. Looks like he won. Semper Fi Marine … |

That's Sgt Major Brad Kasal, read the book "My Men are my Heroes". I've met him, quiet soft spoken professional type of Marine. He signed his book for me at this speaking engagement: Video: YouTube link At 51:15 I was the wise guy that asked about the flamethrower (we had then when I was in). Link: YouTube link Wolfhag |

Notice his finger is off the trigger. Even after all he just went through he maintains safety discipline. That being said, I have carried a sidearm professionally since 1987. The M9 was never one of my favorites. |
