I have shed my blood on the workbench. The tool slipped, and I have sacrificed my plasma for the greater wargaming cause. The wound is slight, but I bear it with honor, knowing I am now the first nor the last to pass this way. I will reconsider my ways, knowing it is my responsibility to wargame safely, yet I know that someday, somewhere, on some future workbench, I shall lay my blood down again. This model is now bonded with me, and will perform valiantly on the day of battle. |

Nothing like sealing the bond between gamer and mini with blood Not that I planning on doing it! |

Gonna give Bill a medal, the "Purple Paintbrush". |

New, very sharp Exacto blades have a way of getting under my skin occasionally. |

Of course, big-time, and still have the scar to prove it. Lesson(s) learned on several occasions. I find significant auto repair jobs require a blood sacrifice to the automotive god as well. |

Been there, done that, got the tshirt. I have also gotten some extremely painful paper cuts from RPG character sheets and play aids. |

Yup. Xacto knives are always hazardous. |

I don't think it is possible to be very active in this hobby and not shed a little of your own blood occasionally. I would say that I draw my own blood in some sort of hobby related accident about twice a year (and I am a very careful person). That said, I always wear some sore of eye protection any time there is a chance of eye damage. Slicing a finger is one thing, but damaging one's eye is an unacceptable risk. |

Drop an Xacto and see how fast you legs go together to stop it…..with the subsequent blade stuck in your thigh. |
Forager | 26 Jun 2019 10:49 p.m. PST |
Definitely. And I have used the byproduct of my carelessness at times to "touch up" some of my Zombie figures…for that "realistic" look! :-) |

Men, I sliced the top of my thumb in half and drove myself to A&E holding it together where they glued it back together. I had foolishly used Gorilla glue to stick miniatures to painting sticks and was trying to pry them off with a craft knife! |

Have managed to wound myself whilst playing, carelessly reaching down to pick up some figures including one with steel pin for the standard…ouch…. But by far the worst wound was a potato peeler, that I accidentally slipped within peeled off the tip of one of my fingers. Got patched up at a chemists, went to the supermarket where the patch fell apart and I bled on the floor… back to the nurses who took 30 minutes to re-do the patch. |

I glue myself to things more than I cut myself. |

I skewered my finger on an Argonaut 1250 scale destroyer mast. It went deep, but the pinwire used was so fine I never bled. I have a 1cm round scar on the back of my right hand from a burn I suffered from cellophane that rolled into a candle while heat riveting the treads on a 1/35 scale MkIV. I have contributed untold dermal layers to figures to whom I managed to CA glue myself. I have suffered significant allergic reactions to spray paint propellants I tarried too long amidst. I have suffered significant upper respiratory reactions to being too long in the company of heavy smokers at cons. I regret none of it. "Pain heals. Chicks dig scars. Glory… lasts forever." |

Yep, scarred fingers and thumbs from bad knife work and sharp wire. |

I have several 'Purple Paintbrush' awards already, and even ended up in casualty once with a badly lacerated thumb from converting a metal Wars of the Roses dismounted knight! |

I have a scar between my right thumb and index finger, that I have had since 1970. I was trying to carve out a mortar pit from a piece of balsa for a Vietnam War riverine craft. Knife slipped and went right in! |

Anytime you hook me up with an edged tool of nearly any type, blood is sure to flow. |

I still have the scar from 50 or so years ago when I decided to attempt a major model aircraft conversion with a dull Scout knife; I learned two things that day: 1-- Use the right tool for the job, and 2-- A man's got to know his limitations. |
