I am going to wargame Samurai vs a Fantasy army (Maybe Vampire)or (Elf), not sure which one. Looking for a rule set of some kind not sure which really applies: Samurai, Fantasy Samurai, or just Fantasy Armies. Any help would be appreciated. Also, 15mm figures (6mm too small) that would be a good choice Historical or Fantasy. If you have wargamed similar, what were your choices. Thanks BOBTYW |

Hordes of the Things seems to be flexible enough to handle any of these unusual match- ups, and you can also use your samurai for historical battles with DBA. Obviously only for large battles-- not skirmishes. |

Would Alternative Army's Sengoku range be useful for your project? link |

Dragon Rampant is fun and amazingly flexible. |

Clan War would probably work, though it's really written for 28mm minis. Hordes of the Things is a bit too abstract, IMO. You could also run with War of the Ring, GW's mass-battle rules for The Hobbit SBG. |

Bob, I made a range of 15mm Samurai with a few fantasy elements in it that is available through Eureka Miniatures. link Check them out. Mike |

Agree about using Dragon Rampant. Hott is too vanilla in my opinion. Battle Valor Miniatures makes all the armies you mentioned. They are VERY nice looking figs and economical. He also gives a discount if you create an account and frequently runs sales. Thanks. |

Irregular has excellent Samurai in 18mm-ish. Tin Soldier UK has very characterful samurai in 15mm- particularly useful for fantasy 15mm. Alternative Armies has characterful figures plus fantasy units as well. |

Battle Valor has a Samurai Range of models link There are regular mortals as well as a range of fantasy elements there too. Also the way the army is set out you can likely use the BV rules set to work a game, though I've not yet got the rules to know how they adapt properly (the game itself, far as I'm aware, has no specific samurai rules so it would likely be proxying in the army using a regular armies stats). |
