I escaped to Florida last week and paid Fort Christmas a visit. The fort was built during the Second Seminole War in 1837. Take a look if you are interested in such things link |

Very nice. A classic "frontier" fort with flanking blockhouses. Thanks for these and all your fort photos. |

Thanks for Posting. I want the paddle Wheeler. What scale is the Ship ? (labelled USS United States) |

The model of the frigate is about 1/100, I am guessing. The paddle-wheeler is 1/65th -1/75th scale to my eye. They are both lovely |

Thanks Interesting that they have used split Posts for the gate and walls….I could have doubled my Output for Pencil palisades if IŽd have thought of that. |

Sheesh I grew up just east of there on the coast and I have no memory of ever visiting despite the fact I would have loved it. Gotta check it out next time I am back in the area. Thank you for posting! |

eptingmike, Don't feel bad, this one is pretty low on the "things to see" list online. I found out to my dismay that there is another Seminole Wars fort near Ocala, I was less than an hours drive away! Fort King, it is a very nice reconstruction and I plan on visiting it next time I am in Florida. From now on I will check the Fort Wiki fortwiki.com/Fort_Wiki when I am making travel plans. |
