As the title says, I'm starting with Battlegroup ww2 rules. Is it possible to use 28mm on a 6*4 table, eg for a squad game.

If not, I have to use 20mm but I prefer 28mm

You'll need a lot of terrain – ranges are pretty generous.

You will find 6x4 fine for a squad level game. Small arms ranges are more or less on a par with a Bolt Action, rifle range 30" to BA's 24" for example. I would say lots of terrain is a given for any 20th century "machine" age warfare.

Battlegroup Overlord really has a platoon per side as the smallest force. I think it'd be a bit snug on a 4x6 table in 28mm, but playable. You should be fine as long as you don't have a lot of vehicles on the table, not even jeeps or motorcycles.

Platoon a side will work fine… maybe one or two vehicles.

6 x4 should be fine, if you don't mind some German guns being able to fire from one end of the table to the other. If you are stcking to infantry v infantry, shoukd not be an issue. If I remember correctly, many of the scenarios in the books are designed for 4 x4 tables using 20mm figures. We used to play in 10mm on 8x5 table, much better looking game IMHO.

Played 6 mm minis, 8 player Western Desert, each player commanded a motorized Inf platoon and a platoon of 3 tanks. On a 6' x 4' table. Worked really well.

Get the QRS which has the Keyed table of play for each type of firing action. Really inspired idea.
