You were asked – TMP link One of our readers once said about TMP:Far too many people sharing problems inappropriate to a wargames site. I don't want to read about your illnesses, job issues or dead pets. Some things should be kept private. Very odd to share such issues with strangers. Do you agree? 65% said "no, this is not a problem" 29% said "yes, there is too much inappropriate sharing" |

After a long illness my cat died. My boss was very unsympathetic. |

After a long illness my cat died. My boss was very unsympathetic. I told my boss who had a dog with a long illness that died about your boss being unsympathetic. He sent me home for being odd. |

I think we all talk/read about wargaming and minis, which gives us all something in common. Something else that we all have in common is loss, illness and unsympathetic bosses. So discussing those things with people with which we also share a wargaming bond, does not seem strange or inappropriate to me…or my unsympathetic boss. |

I agree there's some inappropriate sharing. I don't agree that there's far too much, or that it's unbearable, or that my only recourse is to exit the site. |

The internet requires good ignoring skills. No matter who you are if you're going to use the internet you will need to ignore some stuff. It is one of life's rare 100% ironclad guarantees that you will encounter material you find prurient, abhorrent, uncomfortable, offensive, or some combination of those. You can't make everyone else shut up. You can't correct everyone. You can't begin to teach manners, grammar, values, etc. It's better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness. Start and contribute to more wargaming discussion. If you're going to let the dross bother you maybe you'll be happier with paper magazines. I'm not saying, "get lost", I'm saying the internet is mostly off topic. |

Andrew, may I copy and paste that to the Firearms Board? Oh, BTW Torquemada, try a little Gold Bond Ointment, it'll clear that right up! |
