Is Brookhurst Hobbies the last of the brick & mortar megastores friendly to historical gamers? What about regionally (SoCal)? I considered Burbank's The Last Grenadier as one such place (now defunct). |

The Source Comics and Games carries a large line of miniatures and historical board games still. In the Twin Cities of Minnesota. I don't know if it counts as a megastore but it is fairly large. I'm guessing that Noble Knight Games' store is Historical Friendly as well but I've not been there. |

The Source Comics and Games carries a large line of miniatures and historical board games still. In the Twin Cities of Minnesota. I don't know if it counts as a megastore but it is fairly large. I'm from there originally, they recently expanded to their new larger facility. They just seem to keep growing, of course the competition seems to be shrinking also. I think the online business has hit the small guys and the start-ups the hardest. The Source is also more diversified with a large inventory of comics, books, and collectibles. |

Battle Valor Games in Lorton? Megastore? Not seeing such a thing. Tell me more. |

The War House in Long Beach still has some historical miniatures in their back room, but they are definitely on the endangered list. |

They're the only one I know of in SoCal, and probably the best/biggest in all of Cali. A lot of the game/hobby shops that carried miniatures and models in NoCal are closed too, a long time ago, sadly, e.g. San Antonio Hobby first, and then D&J Hobby. |

Denver,Co has no store in town that sells anything but a display of Warlord games. We once had 3 great large stores but now they're gone. Rest in peace Bonnie Brae, Attactix, and Valhalla. |

I used to go to The Last Grenadier a lot but the owners personality became very unbearable and when they moved to North Hollywood the store looked so run down. |

Brook hurst is not even the last in SoCal. Pegasus Hobbies is just as big even if you discount the R/C portion. There is a huge effing store in Dallas the my wife hits when she's there. If you're not limiting to square footage, The War House in Long Beach is equal to Last Grenadier and Aero Hobbies in Santa Monica is an old school hole in the wall equal to The Last Grenadier that used to be off PCH in Long Beach. Here in Western Canada we've got Imperial Hobbies in Richmond (Vancouver), and the Sentry Box in Calgary. Dunno what counts as a 'megastore', but both have great selection of historical games and miniatures and will order in more stuff if asked. |

If you get the chance at Brookhurst, see if you can get into the attic. I was allowed there to look for some 20mm WWII figures. |

Imperial Hobbies in Vancouver, BC is terrific, and they are VERY close to the airport, so international travellers can pop over in 10 minutes, at most. They have an excellent supply of board games, and a decent supply of minis, but mostly 25/28mm wand much smaller selections of 6mm, 10mm, or 15mm. I find them good but slightly pricey. Very friendly and helpful staff. Right next door to a McD if you need a recharge with a burger. Sentry Box in Calgary, AB is my go-to store, although the on-line ordering is really ancient. The downstairs area is all fantasy, etc., but upstairs there is an excellent selection of historical games, terrain, 15mm, and 28mm historical, and a decent – though spotty – collection of GHQ 1/285. I never leave with less than a $150 USD in damage. There is an LRT station just around the corner, so getting there is super easy. Brookhurst I visited for the first time a couple of years ago, and was very disappointed. Mostly plastics and games, with little in any scale I was interested in, and what was there pretty poorly organized. 'Service' seemed to consist of a couple of pretty disinterested dudes trying hard not to look at you. I had gone prepared to spend an hour or more nosing about, and dropping serious coin, and left in 10 minutes, having spent nothing. It's the first major gaming store I have ever visited – on three continents – in which I never spent any money. |

@Flashman14… Battle Valor Games recently opened a store in the Lorton area. Maybe not "mega" but seems to be well rounded. Also has a co-located production facility. I know they had a bunch of historical stuff they were putting on sale in the store and via Ebay and that even though the owner is a primarily a fantasy guy he is warm to historical gamers. Can't recall the Ebay site with all the sale items but here is the BVG website link Maybe give them a call. |
