Hi, I've been reading up on the new apocalypse rules that GW will soon release and I quite like the sound of them Alternative activations (by formation) weapons have different strength vs. infantry or tanks wound and save rolls on a d12 damage resolved at the end of the round to name a few now I don't have the table space for games of apocalypse but I cant help thinking that these rules would be really good for playing Epic, maybe just convert inches to cms and away you go I've never plays epic before but I've always liked the idea of it and I can see there lots of options out there for not Tau and just a coincidence they look like Orks I could even use the new plastic titans from the new adeptus titanicus – although I think they are 8mm but would proabably still work fine anyone else had the same idea? |

I've wondered the same thing. However, I really like the very simple Epic 40K, and think this would be a lot more than I want to deal with. But I'd like to see someone else do it! From all I've read, the new titans are the correct scale for 6mm. The old ones weren't big enough. I'll be keeping my old ones, however. andy |

Yes, the new Titans are 8mm which is closer to the original Epic Infantry which started out a 6mm -1/300 but some creeped into @ 8mm. The original Titans were @ 1/500 which is @ 3mm … Been playing/modeling Epic since @ '89. I didn't get anything from the new 8mm AT/Epic. Save for some new buildings. We use a hybrid system based on AT1/SM1, and cherry-pick from the other AT/Epic rules we liked. We thought SM1/TL was their worst attempt at Epic. Liked AT1/SM1, took a few things from SM2/TL, and some from E40K, E:A and other sources.
We added Unit Activation with SM1 … it is a much, more "realistic"/better wargame system than IGOUGO. GW finally figured that out with E:A …

We've been playing Epic Armageddon here for many years and a couple of hundred games. Love it. Still, times change and we have started to move on to LaserStorm, which uses the same scale, seems simpler and quicker than epic, card activation of groups of units, and a points system to make up your own units. So far, the games have been fun and challenging. link |

Thank Calico Bill I've bought Laser Storm and I'm considering other options as well The chap I was originally thinking of playing 'tiny apocalypse' with isn't interested but someone else is and they wont have to have the caveat of it being in the 40k setting so it gives me a lot more options |

I think this idea will come up a fair bit but i don't expect to see many actually doing it. From the rules video, Apoc appears very stuff heavy with BM, wound and order counters, plus an SM/TL level of cards. I'd be surprised if it gave you a better game than EA with all that and the movement to range ratio being so small in comparison to EA as well. |

Well, it's not like running the big War Engines in Epic:Armageddon doesn't require some level of wound markers, but E:A is better about having scaled the damage to take out a stand of infantry or normal vehicle at a time. |
