That's a lot, but at least they weren't UFOs. Otherwise, congress would have to have hearings, and well, you know…….. |

Well he got real lucky. Even though the possibility is small of a detonation(s!), but regardless happens ! When I was in the ROK on the DMZ, in '85. A local farmer stepped on/"found" an old landmine. That probably had been sitting there since '53. Most of those old minefields are marked. But for some reason this 1 mine was in the wrong place and for him at the wrong time. Fortunately(?) it "only" blew off part of his foot. We had to go in and ended up evacing him to the ROKs. Our Medics took good care of him. Until the ROKs arrived. We had to be very careful obviously. As no one knew if there were anymore old mines were in the area. I can't remember if the ROK or US CEs had to check out and [hopefully] cleared the area ? |

The article says they were landmines left over from the Cambodian civil war, but the picture (stock photo?) shows rusted U.S. bombs… |

The article says they were landmines left over from the Cambodian civil war, but the picture (stock photo?) shows rusted U.S. bombs… Yes, I noticed that … But come on Bill. Do you actually think the media could take the time to report accurately ? Of course as we saw in SE Asia and many places in Iraq, Syria, A'stan … you can "booby trap" unexploded ordinance of any type, e.g. FA shells, aircraft bombs, etc., etc. and make it an IED. Just like anything with tracks to the media is a "tank" … |

I visited a landmine museum in Siem Reap a year and a half ago. They had recovered and neutralized landmines in Cambodia that had been manufactured by just about all of the major military powers, including the USA, France, Great Britain, the USSR, and China (and I think both East and West Germany). I'm not sure Cambodia even manufactured landmines. |

As we know many countries don't make any weapons of any type. But there are plenty of nations that do and are willing to sell. It's no secret who they are, as you mentioned, some of the biggest producers/sellers. |
