. Afghanistan Is The Most Violent

"Iceland has held its position as the most 'peaceful' nation on Earth, according to this year's Global Peace Index.

In addition, the world's overall 'peacefulness' has improved for the first time in five years – although only marginally.

Afghanistan was bottom of the list, moving below even Syria, while South Sudan, Yemen and Iraq were all in the bottom five…."

It's to dam cold to argue there.

While vacationing in Iceland I saw a political protest: about 10 guys with signs standing on the sidewalk. Two cops were sitting in a car nearby.
Seemed pretty sedate.

I thought it might be best to warn you about the dangers of Iceland :

Military spending is a factor. Just that will automatically put the US down the list.

I see Ecuador is rated pretty peaceful. I'll be going there hopefully in the near future. That makes me feel a little better…

Damon.

Interesting chart though …

But those Red countries certainly seem accurate …

Not sure how Denmark or Sweden scored higher then Norway, we all use about the same on the military, and we all have problems with rising nazi organisations.
But Denmark and particularly Sweden has far more general violent crime.
I'd like to see the exact variables they use.

SouthernPhantom23 Jun 2019 10:42 a.m. PST

Agreed, Gunfreak – Sweden has massive crime problems, including an issue with hand grenade attacks, of all things.

Massive is overstating it, but they generally do have more crime and this year they have had problems with gang violence.

A hand grande is nothing, the whole of Scandinavia and Finland was part of a great motorcycle gang war, during the 90s where RPGs were ulsed

I remember the great Role-Playing Game War of the 1990s! The Helvetets Änglar mostly used 5th Edition AD&D, Anarkian Pojat favored GURPS Traveller, and Götu Riddarar tended to mix Cyberpunk 2020 and Corps to very good effect.

Those were the days.

Having now read the link Gunfreak provided, I am surprised that there don't seem to be any Scandinavian television series based on those events, but maybe MHZ Network just hasn't imported them here.
