Glad you like the schedule, Dan.
Much of it was designed with GMs (like you) in mind.
Happy to hear that you also like the schedule, Col. Buck. I'm sure the War College would welcome a presentation from you in the future. Your career has covered a lot of interesting ground, both in and out of the gaming arena. I'm sure that a presentation on rules and scenario design in general and/or a seminar on the development of your Combat Patrol rules system would be popular. As you may know, the Admiralty Trilogy GMs regularly host a seminar on their naval rules and changes to their systems.
For those too lazy or too feeble to click on the link above, here's a sneak peak at some of the highlights from the War College schedule at Historicon:
Dr. John Prados is scheduled to deliver a lecture on Jungle Warfare (the convention theme) in the South Pacific in WW2 and a lecture on the Japanese battleship Yamato;
Dr. Steve Waddell of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point will talk about Tiger tanks in conjunction with hosting a WW2 game at Historicon;
Paul Westermeyer will speak on a number of topics, including the history of wargaming and addressing ethical issues in wargame design;
Christopher Lawrence, Executive Director and President of The Dupuy Institute, will speak on "War By Numbers" and the nature of conventional warfare, including a look at WW2 battles during the Italian Campaign and the Battle of the Bulge;
Dr. Alexander Stavropoulos of the New York Military Affairs Symposium will speak on the battle of Jena;
Nikolas Lloyd will speak on a number of topics, including Hannibal and the Second Punic War;
Jared Fishman, HMGS member, GM and candidate for the Board of Directors, will present a seminar entitled "Historical Gaming In The School Classroom: A How To Guide From Both The Teacher And Student Perspective" in conjunction with a teacher-student hosted Franco-Prussian game after the lecture; and
a discussion and debate, hosted by a panel of veteran HMGS GMs and players, on the convention theme topic of "The Greatest Jungle Battle In History."
That's just a few of the speakers and topics on the schedule. For a complete list of the lectures at the War College, please click on the link above.
Enjoy the lectures. Hope to see you there.
