Does anyone know if the Austrians used the same limbers as they did during the Napoleonic Wars during the Risorgimento period? |

I have more resources to check but though Austrian artillery in 1848/59 was still smoothbore, it was a different pattern from that used in the Napoleonic Wars. I think it was dated from the 1820s. Also, by the third war against the Italians in 1866, the Austrians were using rifled cannon and were accounted the best in Europe. The associated limbers changed with each pattern and though the designs shared the same fundamentals, they were obviously different. |

From what I can glean from Osprey the crew rode on the limber whilst the officer sat astride the cannon as per the Napoleonic era, therefore the limber sounds as though it resembled the ones used by other nations. |
