The economics of a blog.

I was toying with starting g a blog for a pet project of mine, it it appears there are costs involved. What has been your experience of running g a blog cost (and income?) wise?

I appreciate that the income side is probably aimed at the more generic blogs, rather than gaming. But curious of what the warts and all position is

The alternative is that I may set up a dedicated FB page to record my thoughts

Thanks all

The only cost I've had was a small amount to extend the storage size of Google Photo. Think it was around £10.00 GBP? And I've had my blog for nearly 10 years.

Haven't needed to expand storage yet.

Interesting. Wordpress looks like it charges. Any preferences on blog software then as well please

Mine is free, besides the normal internet access costs I pay anyway.

Mine is free also. I make no income from it.
I prefer blogging to facebook has it's easier to access older content.

I use blogspot.

Don't expect to make money. One of my Blogs has had over 5 million hits. it would have made me $500. USD

Blogspot has cost me nothing but time.

"Appears there are Costs involved"? Blogger hasn´t cost me (so far) anything.
Go ahead Marc and create one :-)

I use Wordpress and it is free to use, but add-ons cost, such as turning it into a domain. All good.

If you just want to blog then Google is fine (blogspot) if you want a website with a blog embedded i'd suggest Wordpress. Either way you'll probably get more notice on FB.

Thanks all. I will go for blogspot then. It was definitely not something to "get more notice", and I frequent FB so I get all the adulation I crave there… :-)

It is more that I want to track some projects, and because they are potentially slightly more off the beaten path than 28mm/15mm/FoW I thought the effort may be worth it.

I shall see if I can start this weekend.

Thanks again all. Much appreciated.
