Anyone know of a site with pictures of the WWII German vehicles located at Aberdeen Proving Grounds? I know they have some very unusual pieces located there but there's not alot shown on their actual site. |

Thanks for the link. What I'm looking for is a picture of the Ferdinand located there but can't seem to find any pictures of it specifically. Heard it was 1 of only 2 remaining in the world. |

It can be difficult sometimes to realise the size of these monsters without something to scale them against, say a man standing next to one. When I was at Bovington standing next to a WWI tank it appeared to be a similar size to a coach or single decker bus. So how would a Ferdinand appear in comparison? |

I have been to Aberdeen and climbed all over the equipment. The Panther was especially interesting in its size and silhouette. The visit provided a sense of what Allied troops were up against when they had to combat those steel monsters. |

At lonesentry.com they have some US intelligence reports printed during WW2. In several they talk about how to kill Tigers (apparently a 6 pounder could take out a Tiger at 600-800 yards). One of them covers the Ferdinand and the Russian response to them. The short version being that it wasn't a good thing to be a German tanker in one of those things. |

By Ferdinand, do you mean the Elephant? I suspect you do. Yes, they used to have one there, but it was in poor shape last time I saw it. |

Please don't climb on the vehicles, Auggie. |

Ferdninand-Elephant-Hummel always easy to confuse which is which. |

Actually the Hummel is the easiest of the three to pick out. It doesn't look anything like the Ferdinand or Elephant (which are pretty close to being the same thing minus a few tweaks). |
