There its happened again. I just came across some uniform prints, French SYW showing the French in a kind of a dove grey uniform, not the white that most of the uniform books want to show. What do you think, dove grey or white? |

The general consensus appears to be a very light grey, almost white. Again it depends on scale/size. In 10mm I would paint them white. In 28mm I would paint them light grey. Depending on style I perhaps will wash/shade them. More so if they are in campaign mode. They are your figures, you choose. |

I've painted Pendraken 10mm LOA figures with Games Workshop's 'Ulthuan Grey' for my French. It's a very pale shade of grey that actually looks white whilst you're applying it, until you paint something adjacent, such as a cravat or a sash, with true white and then the difference becomes apparent. |

Some French light cavalry during the French Revolution wore light grey, but I suppose this is kind of off topic. |

A union organizer from the Ladies Garment Workers told me years ago that the French uniforms were made of "Lodeve" cloth. It was woven using two threads of white wool to 1 thread of dark blue, and from 6 feet away it looked light grey. GdeP |

Ummm… what does this have to do with the 1970's terrorist group? |

I wondered about that myself, Javelin. I'm pretty sure they throw you out of the terrorists union for having a uniform. (I think you're allowed to wear other people's uniforms, but only when you're on the job.) |

Well, that's nice and flexible of them! |

From: javelin98 & robert piepenbrink Ummm… what does this have to do with the 1970's terrorist group? C'mon guys show a little initiative, look it up!! Baader Meinhof Phenomenon or "frequency illusion". The full description is a little wordy so I'm gonna make you do some work, happy reading. The frequency bit is on my end only I'm afraid. I was just looking at uniform colors for an upcoming project when suddenly it started popping up in the references I was reading, where I don't remember seeing it before, weird huh? A little "in" joke on my part. Where's Rod Serling when you need him? |

I used to use Testor's Airframe white, no longer available, for Austrians and then added a little black wash for the French. |

In a dimension of sight and sound… For his sake I hope they have "Lucky Strikes" unfiltered there. |
