Plenty of online tutorials and it seems like a better alternative than commercial purchasing once it's set up. |

Nah. I don't have enough time to paint, let alone messing about with making stuff I can buy, and cheap. Plus, since I game almost exclusively in 15mm and smaller, I don't use too many. |

I currently use Gamersgrass ones. Many different shapes, colours and heights, perfect when mixed. I prefer buying them and save my time. |

Still using the old school method of spots of PVA glue + static grass. Flashman14, the method I have seen is to take a tiny sheaf of long fibers and dot in the middle with glue. Then after glue has set, cut in the middle of the glue bead, to make 2 tufts that can be trimmed to desired length. Are there any other methods you've seen? |

I got some sifted saw dust, months ago… Still have not had time to paint it, so I can use it for grass. It is just so much easier to used three colors of sand, mixed with small, model RR ballast, for my bases. Once I mix them together in the bowl, I just paint PVA on the base, and swirl it in the mixture. I usually have to do 1-2 rounds, but it is so simple, and quick, that it is hard to change my ways after many years of this process. I occasionally add small foliage clumps to larger bases (rarely applied to 25mm bases), so I just dip into a bag I purchased 10+ years ago -- still 3/4-full! Cheers! |

Considering the price of LeadBear's tufts and my lack of time I happily buy tufts. |

Yeah. Dirt simple to do. Bought the static grass applicator and variety of static grass for about $45.00 USD. Made around 100 tufts first try. Way cheaper if you plan on using them a lot. Plus you can apply it to terrain a s well. Thanks. |

Third vote for Leadbears tufts. |

No way – Leadbears all the way. Gave me directions on best tufts for Rhodesian figures! Gold! |

I am moving away from terrain-specific bases and trying transparent or generic bases. For generic bases, mottled dark grays and tans seem to be working pretty well. |

@ CeruLucifus: this is the way I would target if I were to do it: youtu.be/90n_3QNUZtA. Watch through to the very end. |

Hmm for some reason that vid above has just disappeared – this one is similar with a ton of short cuts though – the first guy made a jig for his but this second method works as well. YouTube link |

Made my own static grass applicator and saved a lot of cash doing my own tufts and the like. Not only on tufts but also those BIG patches of grass…can't do that with one tuft. P. |

Flashman, the first vid you linked that disappeared. What YT channel was it for? Also, I see Leadbear is down under. There a US source? Grimm |

Thanks for the kind words regarding my tufts. Grimm, at this point in time I don't have a US stockist, but you can buy them from me direct. Barry (Leadbear's Tufts) |

I have made some with PVA and unwound sisal cord for longer tufts. It looks like the long grasses grown up near the edge of fields. |
