ew from RC Games… Fireteam:WWII, platoon level miniature wargame rules.

- Can be used with any scale of miniature (28mm, 20mm, 15mm etc)

- A dynamic card based activation system that effectively re-creates the fog of war.

- Players can choose to interrupt the activation sequence but must decide carefully when.

- Players forces are split into fireteams allowing for real-world squad tactics to be used.

- Simple but effective shooting rules with realistic ranges.

- Morale and suppression rules model the way fighting units are gradually worn down in combat.

Available for the bargain price of $10 USD on Wargame Vault

Rory?, just bought a set, and they look solid. I like their layout and illustrations.

I also have a previous version (2016) saved on my hard drive, and realize you've worked on the activation system a bit, with more player interaction available within this latest version.

Of course the activation system looks like the game's innovative core, and I like what I see there too, and with my brief, 1st perusal through the PDF I think they'll be worth trying out, and with a play-through testing or two may reveal some intriguing tactical possibilities.

Happy so far with my purchase.

Yes, second Fly's comment. The rules look solid (bought Fireteam Modern and Fireteam WWII).

Game is more or less same scale as Bolt Action, but instead of activating squads, you activate fireteams.

Activation is done through card drawing with indeed the possibility to interrupt the opponent on occasions that you have to carefully chose (and you can't always do it!). The activated team then roll for pips and use them for moving, shooting, rallying, etc…

Haven't played a game yet but it seems very well suited for 2 to 3 squads and a vehicle or two. As I prefer infantry combat, I am sure that playing infantry only can be a lot of fun, maybe 6-8 teams a side.

My feel is that it is more fluid than Chain of Command (that I like) and less gamey/clunky than Bolt Action (that I like and play too).

We are looking forward to trying them out at the club.

Just saw this KS campaign go up today for Normandy D-Day commemorative playing cards (from Lost Battalion Games) – these cards might look nice for when playing the Fireteam: WWII rules with -

I just pledged for 2 decks (one for a spare).

The rules look interesting, and I would be willing to drop $10 USD to give them a try, but … I am an early war gamer.

I do see (and applaud) the fact you have included full war lists for certain nations (when many new rules start off with lists for 1944-1945). But I like to game Polish, French, British BEF and potentially Sea Lion, and Italians in the desert in 1940, before the Germans arrive in Africa in early 1941, or invade Russia later that summer.

So if there are plans to expand upon the nation lists, I will keep an eye open for the announcement there are more countries represented. Otherwise they are a no-go for me.

Im currently working on expanding the army lists, an update will be available soon.

Grabbed these and they look very nice.

Looking forward to the first game.

A few things from first reading
p12 – Towing has a section on Helicopters (sounds a bit post war)
p33 – US lists – Bazooka is missing its Stats
p39 – Japan lists – Type-95 150mm Howitzer is missing its Stats

SeattleGamer09 Jun 2019 2:24 p.m. PST

Excellent news Crabbman! I shall keep an eye open for an update!

Crabbman09 Jun 2019 11:45 p.m. PST

Update is almost ready including new army lists plus a few corrections and updates! :)

FlyXwire10 Jun 2019 6:10 a.m. PST

Good deal – will we get a Wargame Vault notice for our update I wonder?

WombatDazzler14 Jun 2019 2:40 p.m. PST

Just downloaded the updated pdf.

Now has Early War French :-)

p44 – Japan lists – Type-95 150mm Howitzer is still missing its Stats

And the TOC is out of sync with the changes.

Otherwise looks really nice.

Tks for the new list.

Putting my money where my mouth is, and just downloaded the rules. I see that Early War French have been added, and I want to encourage more nations being added, so figured I needed to pay for that.

Will give them a read by the weekend.

Thanks for tempting me Crabbman!
