My grandpa (a WWI trenches vet) told my dad he should join Navy in WWII. Told him they get three hots and a cot and are never more than a mile from solid ground – even if it is usually straight down. |

My dad was in the Navy in 1958-1960, and the highlight of his career was getting to meet Jerry Lewis when Hollywood filmed a movie aboard his destroyer. |

17 + 1 = 18% which is closer to 1-in-6. (1/6 = 16 2/3 % ; 1/5 = 20%) Were some fractions dropped due to rounding? That would put the total closer to 19% which is more nearly 1-in-5. I'm not knocking our naval veterans and servicemen. Thank you for your service! Just responding to the stats. |

The sample size is a considerably smaller than the TMP membership. I know a couple of hundred wargamers and I know of two who are ex Navy and one of them is a yank. |
