I saw a video of a guy wearing rubber gloves while painting. He was brushing on a wash, not dipping or anything particularly wet but it struck me odd. I don't even wear gloves when I spray prime\seal. |
JimDuncanUK | 03 Jun 2019 3:01 a.m. PST |
Maybe he's a bit sensitive. |
Mr Jones | 03 Jun 2019 3:05 a.m. PST |
I wear a glove when I'm holding a model (by the base) that I'm spraying. I didn't used to, but got fed up cleaning the paint off my fingers. |
Torquemada | 03 Jun 2019 3:08 a.m. PST |
I always wear latex surgical gloves and a respirator when spaying (can or airbrush), but not when using a normal brush. |
Cavcmdr | 03 Jun 2019 3:15 a.m. PST |
Seems like a good idea to me. I am sloppy when washing figures. I only wear one "garage" glove when spraying. |

It's a good way to avoid leaving fingerprints on the model. Useful if your hands are sweaty or the FBI is looking for you. I don't even use gloves while priming. I lose sensivity on the fingers and the sprayed paint tend to attach much, much better to the glove than the hand ruining the paint on the model. |

When airbrushing or applying wash (I'm sloppy) I wear a glove on the hand I hold the mini with. |

I wear gloves most of the day. At work, in the yard, casting minis, painting minis, whatever. |

How can random people know I'm a wargamer if I don't go around with paint on my hands? |
nnascati | 03 Jun 2019 5:41 a.m. PST |
I wear "exam" gloves when priming, so I don't get my hands covered with Gesso. |
rustymusket | 03 Jun 2019 6:40 a.m. PST |
I tied wearing gloves for spraying, but don't do it any more. Inconvenient. Not a bad idea when spraying along with a mask or respirator. |
Choctaw | 03 Jun 2019 6:44 a.m. PST |
If I'm having an outbreak of eczema I will. Getting paint into the cracks in my hands isn't fun. |

when resin casting always, when airbrushing sometimes, wile painting with a brush never. |
tigrifsgt | 03 Jun 2019 7:38 a.m. PST |
Only when I hand paint a base coat. Since I'm covering the whole figure I can afford to be a little sloppy. |
79thPA | 03 Jun 2019 7:39 a.m. PST |
I use disposable plastic gloves when spraying on primer, but I don't use them when I paint with a brush. |
CeruLucifus | 03 Jun 2019 8:07 a.m. PST |
I use one or both gloves when airbrushing. Have never used gloves when brushpainting, but occasionally realize it's a good idea. I use them regularly for housepainting, staining wood, applying shoe polish, etc. |
leidang | 03 Jun 2019 8:16 a.m. PST |
Sometimes one when spraying mini's otherwise not for mini's but I often do when painting larger terrain items especially when washing them. |

Dagwood | 03 Jun 2019 10:06 a.m. PST |
No. Since I currently fix figures to a champagne-style cork before painting, my fingers are safe from the paint (mostly). |

Yes – when riding a motorcycle, doing yard work, or in the wintertime. When painting miniatures – no. |

I wear latex or nitrile gloves and safety glasses when spray painting. I sometimes wear gloves when painting terrain, especially large pieces and table covers, because that often gets messy at an almost Jackson Pollack scale. I almost always wear fingerless leather gloves for bicycle riding. I actually have gloves in the glove compartments of our cars (leather in one and polyester fleece in the other), in case it's colder than I expected when I left the house. |

von Schwartz | 03 Jun 2019 6:40 p.m. PST |
No, but a nice matching handbag always completes the ensemble. |
Syrinx0 | 03 Jun 2019 7:00 p.m. PST |
No handbags for painting but I do use a glove on one hand to hold the figure or vehicle when I am irbrushing on the primer or basecoats. I usually attach the figure to a handle or stick to avoid the finger print issue. |

Covert Walrus | 05 Jun 2019 5:21 p.m. PST |
Not as a rule. I did when using epoxy glues and body fillers for some projects, due to skin sensitivity/allergy issues, but certyainly not painting. |
