Battlefront has no plans for years. No mentions. No topics. Why does it seem like there is such a lack of interest on the part of BF and the player base?

Lack of sales? Everyone loves the big tanks. frown

I suspect it is because they work a certain number of hours a week. They expend those hours doing projects that they think will provide the greatest commercial return.

They are interested in the player base to the extent that lack of support translates into weakened future sales.

Well, not quite. BF's last version of V4 has the rules you need to port V3 Early War into V4.

This book give you what you need to field the various warrior teams from the early war books.

With that said, I have to agree with the opinion that they support the parts of WWII, and other periods, that earn sales. They are a business, of course, and have to make the products that the customer base will support. "Late war" has always been seller going back to the first commercial wargames.

But who knows. Maybe they will give Early War some love after they polish off Late War?

No plastic kits for EW atm , maybe one reason , another reason I heard in a podcast was the the USA weren't involved in the war then (except for a few weeks) ?

They might spread that love around when they're done with LW. As for early war, I personally haven't seen the interest level in it personally. How many early war games have you seen at say Historicon? Fall In? Or Cold Wars for that matter? They are there, but compared to late war? I think BF is right to go after the cash and then go for completeness. Plus, who knows. In 2 or so years they will have even more improvements in plastic and perhaps that will have an impact on early war's popularity?

I don't know any gamers in my experience with an interest in early war. It's all N. Africa, and 1942+

Doesn't the future of early war = mid war, followed by late war?

In that time though 3D printing is also going to get better at a guess ?

Although I do love early war, the market for mid to late war is, I think, much larger

While I don't play FoW, my interest in gaming that war lay in the years 1939 to 1941. The "what if" scenarios from Poland to the outskirts of Moscow are, for me, the best source of gaming the conflict.

If I remember correctly, there was a statement that early war could be an Osprey book.

Wargamer Blue02 Jun 2019 9:31 p.m. PST

In a podcast on No Dice No Glory the boss man Peter said early War will get released in the Osprey format in three books. Blitzkrieg, desert, Eastern front. Models will be direct mail order only.

Sounds good to me. Actually, early war can be fun too, even if personally, I prefer mid/late.

I don't think they have closed the book on early war. I have the plastic crusader set and it does contain the parts for the MK1 early Crusader . But I have to agree with the comment its based on sales and as the USA didn't participate in the early part of the war and the USA is a big chunk of their market .

I personally think early war games are far more fun as you need to get your tanks up close and personal as opposed to being taken out by a hidden Tiger at the other end of the gaming board.

Just continue to play V3, and you have all the armylists for "Early war" that you need.
