"Daniel Morgan appears again and again in books about the American Revolution, yet many Americans are not familiar with him or his exploits. There was a time when Morgan was more appreciated, and popular authors of historical fiction like Kenneth Roberts featured Morgan in novels like Arundel (reviewed here.) He is part of the story told by John Brick in The Rifleman (reviewed here) which was the tale of Timothy Murphy, one of Morgan's "shirt men," so called for their buckskin attire. Bill, I find that sort of thing usually means someone didn't attend the right schools. But don't hold it against the author. It could easily be some publisher's bright idea. |
