Hi Guys. For those of you who play the game and have made the switch from 1st edition to 2nd, how do you like it? I have a limited investment in 1st ed at the moment and want to get more, but should I start afresh or snap up cheaper 1st ed stuff? Do you think the new edition is a significant improvement? Thanks! |

2nd ed killed the game locally. No one wanted to switch over and no one wanted to continue with the 1st without support. Most of those guys play Star Wars Legion now. So my advice would be to look into your local groups and find out what they are doing. If your just doing this for your own games (providing all the minis) then I would grab the cheaper stuff. The change was mostly meant to rebalance the ships and collect a lot of special rules into the same rulebook. |

Trick question, depends on what you're looking for. 2nd Ed is designed entirely for competitive tournament players. It makes a lot of much and long needed improvements for tourney play, with built in flexibility to help keep improving steadily. However, this comes at the expense of making it very un-friendly for casual play: much critical information is not even printed on the cards, you need to check their app to find up-to-the-minute information on points costs and upgrade slots. Tourney players who have switched over love it. If you prefer casual games and scenario games, stay with 1st Ed! |

As a casual player I saw no reason to switch to 2nd edition. |

We stuck with 1st edition. None of our group are tournament players and nobody was interested in spending over $200 USD for the 2nd Ed set and the conversion kits just to keep playing with what we already had in our collections. |

Agree with all above. A lot more money, reduced options, which has caused our local group to stop playing. I don't think the new ships have stats for version one either. |

I have just got some clone wars ships, which are 2nd edition. Apart from the lack of a points system, I see very little difference. I like the possibility of using 2 actions at the cost of getting stressed, and some expendable counters to do things (EG Jedi). I am thinking I could expand my solo rules with these models, but would like to see all the differences between 1st and 2nd first!!! |

Ah, just downloaded the 2nd rules PDF link and I can see several differences with first. One is Disarm, which stops a ship shooting this turn. Another is you can use several actions a turn, with some causing stress if combined. I think I may do the solo rules using one action a turn, as in first edition, which means no change when playing alongside my 1st edition ships. |

Very glad I lost interest in X-Wing before 2nd edition came out! :) |

Thanks guys. Some food for thought there. Not exactly unanimous one way or another so I'll still have to think for myself. Darn, lol. I'm definitely not a tournament player. Much prefer scenarios and campaigns. And I have to admit, the new Republican era ships look pretty appealing. |

Can you get the 1st edition stuff still? or is it now expensive? |
