Lancashire Miniatures launches a new range in 18mm on the revolutionary wars in 15mm. The first wave includes French and Austrians waiting for the next one that will include Vendeans, Russians and Prussians troops.

You mention the 18mm line in 15mm? Which is it?

I suspect the riders are 18mm and the poor ponies are 15mm, to judge by their proportions above

are you sure they aren't 10mm…they look like 10mm.

They more looks like well done 6mm. And in such case they are splendid.

I am sorry to say that their site suggests they do nothing smaller than 15/18mm (and let's face it, the two are interchangeable all too often). Distinct lack of any photos.

Yes, they would have been great 6mm figures, but in any larger scale they look more like something from Lord of the Rings. Goblins of Gondor?

I dont like these and they do indeed look like warg riders.

I was trying to think…you got it…. Wargs. Nice shout

Dear Tango,

We dont want you to think we dont appreciate you introducing us to new products and ideas, we do!

But not all of them can be winners…unless theyre running in a warg race :)

I often don't mind figures in a more distinctive style as long as you are making the whole army out of them. I suspect they will paint up well and Vendean ranges aren't exactly thick on the ground! I'm waiting to see more detail on the Vendean and British range (to use as emigres) but could see myself making up an army out of these.

I suspect that they might paint up ok, but the horses look significantly too small, unless it is just a bad camera angle.

Given that few manufacturers do 15mm Revolutionary Wars figures, you go with what is available. Have just ordered some infantry.

If 15mm French Revolution era figures are what you seek, do not overlook the Minifigs range. All period nationalities are available- the UK producer just lumped many of them in to their Napoleonic ranges. I know because we had pulled them into the Fr-Rev ranges at GFI. It's an interesting period (the French are not rolling over everyone) but historically, this period just does not seem to sell well in miniature. Always felt the lack of decent, readily available research materials was a large contributing factor for this situation. (Not the lack of available figures.)

I have not found much difficulty in obtaining information over the last couple of years and the figures available are increasing in different scales. As to available figures, that appears to me to depend on which period of the Revolutionary Wars you wish to game and in which scale.

As to available figures, that appears to me to depend on which period of the Revolutionary Wars you wish to game and in which scale. You mention GFI, but as far as I know that range does not include Prussians 1792-94.

I wished th Eureka 28 were in 18!!!!!!
And all those nice Vendéens in 28 too etc. and then the right houses…

Sho Boki Sponsoring Member of TMP21 May 2019 3:59 a.m. PST

Prussians 1792 are here..

Now compare those with the Warg Riders (that is so accurate) on top

Marcus Brutus21 May 2019 6:00 a.m. PST

The Lancashire figures above look like what I would have bought in the early 1980s not 2019. Warg Riders they are.

Lion in the Stars21 May 2019 7:34 p.m. PST

Lancashire models are pretty big. Even if advertised as 15mm, they do NOT fit in with say, Peter Pig.

So I'd call them 18mm.

As I said, riders maybe but not horses. They really do let down what might well be nice figures painted up
