Yup, got to thinking and there is still another major player out there.

So don't be surprised if this ends far differently than now you think it should end.

Major Mike16 May 2019 12:29 p.m. PST

Nothing will surprise me more than some competent writing. The last two episodes seem so hurried and rushed at times, things get really glossed over. Sure they don't have George Lucas hiding in the background giving plotline thoughts?

Robert Burke16 May 2019 1:43 p.m. PST

There's a petition on Change.org calling on HBO to hire some competent writers and redo all of Season 8. I signed it even though I know it won't happen. But this has been the most disappointing season ever (IMHO).

The battle tactics suck. The night scenes were so dark I sometimes couldn't tell which characters were being shown. And don't even get me started on Dannie (no spoilers, if you saw the last episode you know what I'm talking about).

I just have to hope that whenever George R.R. Martin gets around to finishing off the series he does a better job of it.

Wait, what other major player? I am drawing a blank on who you may be referring to.

I just have to hope that whenever George R.R. Martin gets around to finishing off the series he does a better job of it.

He's the Cersei Lannister of Season 8. He's not roasting toddlers, but his laziness is behind why this has gone further off the rails in the later seasons.

Jamie's arc crashed and burned in short order. The tragedy of his being scorned by one and all for sacrificing honor and duty to stop a lunatic from massacring thousands SHOULD have come full circle with him returning to King's Landing to STOP his sister. But all of the sudden, he decides the small folk can take a flying leap, he never liked 'em anyhow. He's his evil sister's booty call no matter if she decided not to have Frankenstein kill him by the flip of a coin. THAT'S BAD WRITING. His sister wasn't crying because she was sorry for anything, didn't embrace him because she loved him. She's a sociopath megalomaniac who's chickens have come home to roost. And instead of a dishonored knight who gives his life in one last effort to make it all right, he's just a sad loser pretending his sister actually loves him, when she is and has always been incapable of it.

And thank God Euron, the Jar-Jar Binks of Game of Thrones, is finally Bleeped texting dead. What a creative embarrassment.

Anyway, the surprise will come from where all of Varys's ravens flew off to. He had a pile of them on his desk when the scullery girl came in.

Long live King Tyrion!

George RR Martin has done some excellent writing over the years, but I recommend you stick to stories he finished.

The surprise is the Spanish Inquisition, no one expects the Spanish Inquisition..

Leeeerroy Jenkins!!!!!!! He's on his way in!

GRRM was supposed to have given the showrunners the general idea of the conclusion to ASOIAF. Perhaps they are making it disappointing so that people will read the books when GRRM finally gets around to finishing them.

The night scenes were so dark I sometimes couldn't tell which characters were being shown.

Cover this before.

They do not have the light pollution that we have today.

Turn off all of the lights off for hundreds of miles around you and go out on a low moon night.

You will not see four feet in front of you.

We have so much light pollution these days people have forgotten just how dark night can get.

repaint16 May 2019 7:09 p.m. PST

Yeah, Tyrion is going to get the throne.

Zephyr116 May 2019 9:36 p.m. PST

You're all being set up. The real ending will be in the movie three years from now… ;-)

blacksmith17 May 2019 2:27 a.m. PST

Tyrion is going to kill Dany to stope her, but Snow will be the king in the end.

Earl of the North17 May 2019 4:04 a.m. PST

Its perfectly possible to film a night battle where you can see what is happening, hell they studied Helm's Deep apparently but missed the part where you can actually see the battle…..personally I believe its so dark because they were going for a zombie survival vibe and mostly because they saved a lot on not having to use as much CGI to actually portray the battle (they also saved money not having John interact with Ghost in the next episode). They really shouldn't have talked up the 'battle' because it was so poorly executed.

As for a new player emerging in the final episode, certainly possible, it would fit with the rushed narrative that has been a major reason the final season seems to have been so negatively received by some of the fans. Honestly I'm so disenchanted at this point that I've checked out the spoiler leak (which is apparently accurate on some of the events that happened this season) and I can say that if that ending turns out to be true I doubt anybody is going to be satisfied.

Varys was having Dany poisoned. He'll get his revenge from de grave.

Leaks on the web say Jon kills Dany, then takes the black, and ancouncil of Bran, Tyrion, Davos, and some others becomes in charge.

15th Hussar17 May 2019 10:23 a.m. PST

How can one "take the Black" again, when they dun ain't got nuthin' to Brood over anymore?

Dynaman878917 May 2019 12:11 p.m. PST

> hell they studied Helm's Deep apparently but missed the part where you can actually see the battle

Or their own battle for Castle Black which was excellent.

Mithmee17 May 2019 12:28 p.m. PST

Plus with the Night King gone there is no longer any need for the Black Watch.

Plus I would expect that it going to thaw out some up there.

Which means that the Starks will end up controlling the most area.

The populace rises up and creates a commune at kings landing and throws all the aristocracy to the dragon.

Its become mediocre fan fiction – eventually Mr. Martin will finish writing the real story and a few years latter a rebooted screen version will appear and the HBO version will become an odd curiosity.

Many things can be said for D&D – visionaries who saw what a great work Martin had created, bold show runners who found a way to put on film what Martin had said was unfilmable, great assemblers of talent both in front and behind the cameras – all true.

But they are not good writers esp as to plot and character development – this was masked as they spent the capital of Martin's great work but exposed when the bank account of written material ran out. D&D's one clear superiority over Martin – they got the story told turned out to be their greatest vulnerability.

In their defense – Martin has no one but himself to blame for this regrettable development had he stayed ahead of D&D all three of them would have looked like visual genius each benefit from the others strengths.

Bob will save the day, he always does.

The Beast Rampant17 May 2019 5:01 p.m. PST

There's no more "taking the black", unless you're doing the goth scene.

Sam is the lone surviving member of the Night's Watch, the Wall has a huge hole in it (would it take magic to repair it? Is the series' wall semi-magical too?), the white walkers and wights are gone, and the wildlings are not a threat anymore. The whole thing's now likely to just be a tax scam.

Personal logo Doctor X Supporting Member of TMP17 May 2019 6:16 p.m. PST

Earl +1 on the night battle comments.

Major Mike18 May 2019 9:51 a.m. PST

Ok, just to speculate, it took the White Walkers 1000 years to come south, so, I guess some of Krastors "sons" will be ready in another 1000 years to come south again.

Tyrion won't die because Bronn then won't have anything, Bronn will do the deed on Dany so he can have Highgarden.

Grey Worm will die trying to defend or avenge his Queen.

John refuses the throne to go back north.

Gendry gets the throne with Davos as his Hand.

Tyrion drinks wine and knows things.

The Dragon will go to Volantis and it will be forgotten like Darrio.

Wait for the Reboot! ;)

They will pull the mask of Danni and find a creepy old man.

I'd have gotten away with it if it weren't for you Starks and your stupid dire wolf!

Mithmee19 May 2019 4:51 p.m. PST

Well it is only hours away now.

Mithmee19 May 2019 10:52 p.m. PST

Well Bran the Broken will have no problems from his Sister the Queen of the North.

Well his time as King is going to be interesting since whoever comes to his court for something he will already know the real answer.
