The new figure brings the total number of people currently living in internal displacement due to violence to 41.3 million, an all-time high, according to a report by the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) and the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC)…."

I'm surprised that number isn't larger. Given the total number of people on the planet, which is in the billions, it's really a drop in the bucket by comparison – 7.6 Billion now, apparently. So, if their 41.3 Million number is correct, that means 0.54% of the world's population has been displaced, or one out of every 200 people. |

Personally, I think one out of 200 people in the world is fairly significant. The county here in Ohio I live in has a bit over 500,000 population. Applying 0.54% to that number would mean 27,000 people in this county displaced. To me that would be a lot. Maybe I'm just becoming an old softy. Tom |
