Which individuals would you say were 'good guys' in the Second World War? |

I wouldn't say the Swiss as they were helping launder the Nazi's stolen goods. I'll say canadians, aussies and kiwis. They weren't invaded and didn't start the war but gave a lot to hold up their alliances. fought more or less honourably and helped liberate the world. Britain and the USA weren't bad but their political games helped get it rolling. |

By "individuals," do you mean specific persons by name? That's gonna be a big, long list. But I will say both my grandfathers, my great uncle, and my father-in-law are at the top of my roll. That's a US Army Captain in the Engineers Corp (North Africa, Sicily, Italy), a US Army AirCorps Captain and Flight Surgeon (Alaska, Burma, China), a US Navy doctor (I don't know what rank; whatever a doc was!) (South Pacific, Okinawa, I believe), and a US Army Corporal (France). All were among the best men I have ever known. |

A thorny question just begging to get people into trouble or elicit platitudes. With respect, 'good guys' needs further definition. If we are less than self-aware and critical then 'our' side will always be the 'good guys' I imagine. |

I nominate my mom, Marguerite Lindsay, who volunteered for the Army Nurse Corps shortly after Dec. 7th. Her field hospital was somewhere in Germany when the war ended. One of the regrets of my life is that I didn't with her about experiences. But what I know, I'm damn proud. |

GI Joe was a good guy. Rosey the Riveter was a good gal. And John Wayne was my favorite! |

Perhaps a special call out to some who were "Good" when being "Good" was problematic. For example Oskar Schindler and Raoul Wallenberg come to mind. |

Good as many things are in the eyes of the beholder. E.g. today ISIS, AQ, the Taliban, etc., by some are considered the "good guys" … Where many of us here and elsewhere, just see them as "targets to be serviced" … I'd think … |

I always thought my dad was a good guy, and he had medals to prove it. However, I doubt the people he killed (including civilians- he was a pilot) and their families thought so. |
