After watching most of the YouTube videos and re-reading the rules, I have a bunch of random questions. Having trouble logging into TFL Forum, so here goes - Leader attachment is my biggest hangup and it is unclear when and how it happens. When do you decide attachment of a Junior Leader to a Team or a full Squad for purposes of which Team a Leader can spend an Initiative Point (at the time of Activation) on and for purposes of Leader loss (at the time Fire is received)? 8.3 I assume that two teams in "Open" are in "same Cover"? There is no rule that MMG/HMGs suffer fire loss when down to one crew like LMGs. Is it the same? Does the out of grenades rule via firing 2 consecutive Phases apply to Rifle Grenades? By "consecutive Phases", does that mean you would have had to roll x2 6's on your Command Dice and have repeated the Phase without the opponent having a phase? Or is it consecutive after the enemy activated? Why no mods for Rifle Grenade shooting through windows and bunker slits? Rules say regarding AT weapons within a Section/Squad that "Other than when used against Vehicles, Section AT weapons may only be used when individual man is commanded by Leader using initiative." Does this mean that when firing against Vehicles, they can fire their AT weapon on a 1 as a team (i.e. 1/2 the Section), 2 as a Section/Squad, 3 as Junior Leader Cmd Pt, and 4 as Senior Leader Cmd Pt? This makes them easier to fire than AT Teams. My confusion is the "Other than when used against Vehicles" phrase. If for some reason you had a Medium Mortar (81mm) on map, would the minimum range be 24" as with 60mm? The rules say an Off-Map mortar firing "On Target" gets full HE dice roll. In the Example, "On Target" seems to mean wherever it lands, even if it drifts. Right? On subsequent Off-Map mortar fire it says you can only stop after firing in an Activation. So if you don't stop after one Activation, you are committed to firing the next time you Activate that unit whether you like it or not? |

1. Jr leaders come with a squad. When a squad deploys on a 2 or 3, he goes with them. Whenever a squad is doing something it is assumed the Jr leader is attached all the time. Spending initiatives only happens when you activate the Jr leader. He has two. So he then can give two cmmands which affect his squad; team 1 shoot here, team 2 lay down covering fire over there, or team 1 you move forward, and he throws a smoke grenade. There are many combinations he can do. In order to remove shock, he must be attached. That is within 4" of the squad/team. When the squad/team take hits, and he is attached, there is a possibility he may be the guy who ate the bullet. He can also give commands within his command radius and not be attached to avoid the bullet eating contest, and also he cannot remove shock. 2. Not really sure your question here, but yes, they have no cover, thus being in the open 3. From the Master Arsenal table, "‐3 firepower when crew <= 1. HMG reduce cover by 1 level" 4. From the 2017 FAQ, "The total number of rifle grenades a Leader may order used in a game is equal to his Command Initiative level. So, a Junior Leader may have just two grenades, a senior Leader three." 5. Big Rich explain this awhile ago, as these guys were pretty good at shooting these things, so not to complicate things, there are no mods. Unlike throwing a grenade through a wind that's a bit different. 6. So the phrase, "Other than when used against Vehicles" phrase" is directed to say for example a German squad wants to shoot their Panzerfaust at some infantry behind a wall. Since this is not a vehicle, a senior leader has to give the ok, use a command initiative for them to waste a faust on a bunch of troops. 7. Nope. Mortar of that size are too big for the battle space for CoC. They are represented by the imaginary use off-table, thus being called in for a barrage. 8. Nope. Read section 10.3. for off table mortars and mortar deviation 9. Nope, again Read section 10.3. for off table mortars. If a command initiative or a command die is not available to activate the FO this phase, no biggy. The battery is still available when activated again. There are various interrupts to stop the battery fire, and the FO has to see if the battery is still available. Hope this helps. P. |

Thanks much On the issue of Leader attachment, there are times in the YouTube replays that Richard says a Junior Leader rolls for Leader Loss based on the number of Kills that Phase on the entire Squad/Section. And them sometimes, when the Jr Leader is still within 4" of both Teams, he will say the Leader is only "attached" to one team, do the Leader Loss is based on only the Kills on just that one Team within the Squad or Section. So my questions on attachment relate to my confusion on that. |

Not a problem….so a Jr leader attached to a squad which may have one or more teams (lmg, rifle, etc.), will roll for a possible kill hit if any of thm take casualties. Further, he has to be within 4". If outside of 4", then no leader kill check. Not to complicate things, but there are times when a Sr leader is attached or within 4" of a team and/or squad. So when there's that situation and you have to check for a possible leader hit, just roll a D2 (1,2,3 = jr ldr and 4,5,6 = sr leader) or whatever method you want to use to check which leader you're rolling for. Hope that helps. P. |
