After watching most of the YouTube videos and re-reading the rules, I have a bunch of random questions. Having trouble logging into TFL Forum, so here goes -

Leader attachment is my biggest hangup and it is unclear when and how it happens. When do you decide attachment of a Junior Leader to a Team or a full Squad for purposes of which Team a Leader can spend an Initiative Point (at the time of Activation) on and for purposes of Leader loss (at the time Fire is received)?

8.3 I assume that two teams in "Open" are in "same Cover"?

There is no rule that MMG/HMGs suffer fire loss when down to one crew like LMGs. Is it the same?

Does the out of grenades rule via firing 2 consecutive Phases apply to Rifle Grenades? By "consecutive Phases", does that mean you would have had to roll x2 6's on your Command Dice and have repeated the Phase without the opponent having a phase? Or is it consecutive after the enemy activated?

Why no mods for Rifle Grenade shooting through windows and bunker slits?

Rules say regarding AT weapons within a Section/Squad that "Other than when used against Vehicles, Section AT weapons may only be used when individual man is commanded by Leader using initiative." Does this mean that when firing against Vehicles, they can fire their AT weapon on a 1 as a team (i.e. 1/2 the Section), 2 as a Section/Squad, 3 as Junior Leader Cmd Pt, and 4 as Senior Leader Cmd Pt? This makes them easier to fire than AT Teams. My confusion is the "Other than when used against Vehicles" phrase.

If for some reason you had a Medium Mortar (81mm) on map, would the minimum range be 24" as with 60mm?

The rules say an Off-Map mortar firing "On Target" gets full HE dice roll. In the Example, "On Target" seems to mean wherever it lands, even if it drifts. Right?

On subsequent Off-Map mortar fire it says you can only stop after firing in an Activation. So if you don't stop after one Activation, you are committed to firing the next time you Activate that unit whether you like it or not?

Duke,
you're best off asking on the CoC forum – lots of friendly and very helpful people there,

That's what drives me nuts about CC. The best set of Lardies rules and it still has giant holes in it. Really neat game that isn't complete without going to their forums to get your questions answered.

That and the very cool Patrol phase basically is for you to take 10 minutes to decide which half of the table fight over and ignore the other half. Just set up half a table and skip that step.

I'd agree that the CoC forum would be your most helpful option. Keep trying.

Just set up half a table and skip that step.

That's fine if your entire interest in wargaming is just rolling dice and blowing stuff up. (In Bosquet's words, "C'est magnifique, mais ce n'est pas la guerre".) Some (including messrs. Clarke and Skinner) feel that there's a lot more to it than that. The decisions made in the Patrol Phase do more that just reduce the table size; they determine the shape and flow of the action to come. By the time you get it down to a "half a table", many of the most interesting decisions have already been made. This is true of the time before the firing begins in any battle, in any period. If you skip that step, you are depriving yourself of the opportunity to begin the action with an advantageous position of your own making, rather than one dictated in advance by the scenario, which is infinitely more instructive and satisfying.

The FAQ may help, it's on the Lardies blog.

War Artisan's comments above are absolutely correct. The patrol phase encourages the players to really appraise the terrain before the game begins.

I have never played a game that doesn't have a pile of questions attached to it. At least with the Lardies you can be certain of an answer, often from the game designers themselves.

I've been unable to login to the Lard Forum for some reason.

I like the rules a lot. I don't find them difficult at all. The replays on YouTube are very helpful.

There is a Facebook page for the rules, it's quite active, so you'll probably get answers there.
