It's been quite a while since I last posted anything here, and over a year since I moved from the UK to Spain (Costa Blanca). I still enjoy reading the threads. I thought I would share some images of my growing 40mm collection of Peninsular based Napoleonics with you. I started by purchasing the personal collection of Andy Copestake (Proprietor of OLd Glory UK), which included the amazingly well painted French 2nd Hussars, and many British and French painted infantry, and have continued to add to them since, bringing the total of painted figures up to just over 400. 40mm figures don't really take up much more room on the table than 28mm when based – all my infantry are on 20mm frontages, it's really just the vertical scale that changes. On 20mm frontages one does get a realistic 'shoulder to shoulder' look in this scale. The majority of these are by Sash & Sabre USA, available in the UK from Andy at OG. There are some Perry Miniatures in there too and I'm currently painting a British Light INfantry base by Perry before returning to Sash & sabre for more cavalry and artillery. Just getting round to terrain next, a 6 x 5 table with games played to DBN rules. I'm not looking for huge games, just small encounters with up to a dozen or so bases per side. Hope you like them, Cheers, Lee.

…and a few close up shots. The 2nd Hussars are my pride and joy, closely followed by the 60th Rifles I think. The French artillery are also favourites, all of which were professionally painted.

They are wonderful and you have reminded me that I had fully intended to try out a couple of Perry 40mm figures…but I got distracted and my 28mm lead mountain has only grown larger. Funny thing, the least colourful unit, the chasseurs a cheval, would have got my vote. Do I see British/KGL Light Dragoons there? Would love to see a pic of them…

Thank you all :) Had the French infantry down for a dust and clean this morning, took a few pics. 'deadhead' I painted the Chasseurs myself so I do have a soft spot for them, but I can't match the standard of those Hussars! Funny you should mention the Light Dragoons, I painted those too, 16 of them, but I have never been totally happy with them, I think the horse furniture should be a plain blanket on campaign in the Peninsular like the Heavies. Not much I can do though so they are what they are. Pic below :) Cheers, Lee.

I much prefer the shading work on the Chasseurs. The Hussars you cannot really go wrong with. Brilliant rig. But the skill is to do the duller units, to look this realistic. Those dragoons must be quite impressive in real life. A unit that size in 40mm. I think it is great to see the Tarleton and any uniform pre 1815…makes a nice change! Thanks again |

Nice to see the French 2nd Hussars..an under-represented force, IMO. You must have a really big table..! Great work! |

Super, you must have to stay in good shape to move those troops around the battle field with one arm… ;) Cheers, Dean |
