I was astonished to see the T55, but they do admit no such thing in this engagement.

Left the impression on me (and this will not be popular) what courage it took to face a combined aerial, armoured, infantry assault, with only small arms fire, RPGs and a hole in the ground. Again it could be like Rourke's Drift, you have to face it, you cannot flee. But all too often terror introduces complete paralysis, when in close quarter fighting. Nat Victor was a hard little b….d. The VC and NVA had their "job" to do … and so did the US/SEATO. They had the home court advantage … They really had no where to go. It's their backyard. And like anyone who fights the "invaders", they were generally more motivated, etc. Plus like many forces they were more than willing to take heavy losses and pay the price to rid there country from another invader. Albeit at a very high cost.

Of course even with armor and FA support, etc., dismounting from an M113 and going into the assault into an enemy held village. Takes a modicum of courage, etc., as well. But again, I am a bit biased about this … wink
