Sitting to counter height is my vote. |

We like normal table height. You can sit in normal height folding or dining room chairs, or you can stand and see more. Stool height can get uncomfortable compared to normal chairs. |

Gut height is the traditional measure I believe. |

A wargaming table should not partake in recreational pharmaceuticals. |

Having been wargaming since the 60s with a current table that I have had since the mid70s, it is about waist high for standing. I have bar stools. However, at this point, I think normal table height is better. Most guys today seem to prefer to sit down to play. A chair is better than a bar stool. However, waist height is healthier as standing is better for you than sitting. But I get plenty of exercise as it is. Tom |

It depends how tall you are……. |

Sitting height. Either regular chairs, or fancy barstools with back support for me! |

Have a custom table built, with adjustable legs controlled by buttons: 29"-60" table surface height, with a 4"-deep game well. Will also serve the wife as a quilting/cutting table for fabrics and sewing, with the flat leaf top installed over the game well. I'd be happy with standard table height, but that would not work for her. It's nice to adjust it up, when everyone is standing/lower it when everyone is sitting, too. Cheers! |

About 30" if you play sitting. There's a good case to be made for 44" more or less if you play standing, but (a) it's custom work, and so more trouble and expense, (b) you can't use it for much else, and (c) you can stand at a short table, but you can't sit at a tall one. |

One meter high(39") is perfect. Add bar height chairs or stools and players can sit or stand. Ample room underneath for storage of terrain, etc. Width should be from 4-5 feet, six at most. Length a minimum of 8 feet, 10-12 is better. See: link |

Repiqueone, I hope you went with LED lighting in your game room. CFL's contain mercury, and they don't last nearly as long as they promised they would. I've switched over to LED throughout my house: cut my electricity bill quite a bit; they should last 6+ years. I also like being able to select the color I want: warm, like the old incandescent, or Daylight. I enjoyed seeing/reading about your game room, and your table preferences. Thanks for sharing. Cheers! |

My own opinion is 31" height. Then one can sit down and reach across the table. table area about 3 foot depth and 5 foot width. I am not one of those rich guys that bang on about their size. |

It's legs should reach the floor. |
