I must confess my ignorance on the finer details of coastal and inland waterway nautical terminology … Can anyone give me a useful description of what a scow is vs. a barge? We have two threads, one on each, and to my eye these are very similar vessels. -Mark (aka: Mk 1) |

The words are often used interchangeably. I believe a scow is supposed to have a flat bow and stern. |

Fitz, these are lookin' good (and fat too)! But the audience here wants to know how hard they'll be to torpedo!? |

FlyXwire, Thanks for the kind word. They don't compare with your wonderful paint work but came out okay. As to their work as targets, well we will just have to decide if they will draw enough water to catch a few fish or perhaps they are running higher in the water filled with hideaway guns beneath those hold covers. A sort of coastal Q ship manned by partizans? |
