Was wondering if anyone is following this legislation which is reportedly about to be passed by the New York legislature. Will it impact the sale of metal miniatures here? |

Does this refer to the material, or is it more philosophical in nature ('war toys') ? Many years ago, the NY legislature legislated against lead in toys, which is why (I think) so many are done in pewter/plastic these days (in addition to cost, of course). |

Democrats in the state capital approved legislation Tuesday – part of a broad package of environmentally-friendly bills – banning the sale of toys containing hazardous chemicals and forcing companies to be transparent about potentially dangerous materials. The law prohibits toys, clothing, and furniture made for kids from containing chemicals such as toxic flame retardants and requires the state Department of Environmental Conservation to list banned and dangerous chemicals on their website. The legislation looks to have been passed in 2017. Possibly they are amending it to include additional chemicals---the list is pretty toxic--I can't imagine current production methods include chemicals on the list |

I can't imagine current production methods include chemicals on the list Maybe not in the US. Asia and Latin America are another story. Many years ago, the NY legislature legislated against lead in toys, which is why (I think) so many are done in pewter/plastic these days It wasn't legislation, it was the state Attorney General acting on his own. And the move away from lead had already started by the time that happened, largely due to expense. |

As to lead in miniatures, last I looked Randy at PF-Cinc had a statement on his website that the fears were overblown. |
