Title line says it. I'm aware the gun in question could be carried by mules/etc, as well as be entirely manhandled, but I very much need a useful image (photo, drawing, schematic, etc) of the piece itself. If there's a proper image showing the piece as transported, that would be fine, too. Again, this is for the new work on the French Intervention in Mexico, and so far I'm up a tree (or more likely a Saguaro Cactus) for good technical data on this weapon system and its particulars. Can yet another Samaritan help a Brother out? TVAG |

On that page of my site ultimaratioregis.com/page31.html Unfortunately, I did not think it will ever be used! only one pic La Hitte mountain gun in Draguignan artillery museum,. You have half of my best half behind (around 1m?) that can give you an idea of the small size of the thing. Far more stuff here: link link link boom! |

Jcfrog! Merci Beaucoups! All your links were good, but the final one was a four-bagger (and that's a very good thing). Not only did I find the illos and info I wanted (or most of it), but additional useful material concerning the principal Field Guns taken to Mexico, too. I could wish for a useful photo of the 12-pdr Model 1853 converted to La Hitte system in 1858, however. The only photo on the Net appears to be the same shot of the barrel only. I did find a line drawing which will do, but it would be nice to see the gun and carriage as well. Nevertheless, thank you again for your contribution on, as was noted, this auspicious anniversary. I'm sure Capt. Danjou would have given his OTHER arm for a 12-pdr that day! TVAG |
