I only have the Guthrie book, and since it's quality has been put in question.
I'm wondering how the formations worked.
The frontage, depth.
And several regiments were a mix of cuirassier and arqebusers.
Did they fight in the same formation during battle, or was it split up?

Because of certain new obligations I can't go into detail as I used to (but you will be able to read more about Cuirassiers in a diffrent format a bit into the future ;-) ). But do search the TMP older posts as I have written about them before here and you can also check out Buoko de Groot's Osprey about the Dutch cavalry which covers the Dutch use and the Dutch had a significant influence on a lot of armies though few copied the Dutch without adding their own changes and variatiations.

In our games they are generally treated as caracoling reiters.

I ask becasue I'm wondering how to form units, my inial plan for my Generic Bavarian/catholic cavalry was to have front rank in full 3/4 armor and back rank in just helment and cuirass.

I'm also wondering how to scale it, I was thinking 6 figures equals 250 men, so 12 men are 500 men, a large cavalry unit.

Ok Daniel when can we expect that which can not be mentioned to see the light of day????

Gunfreak,
Bavarians are a bit of a special case as their army enjoyed what was probably the best overall funding of the war (which isn't to say that there wasn't issues with pay and supplies during specific campaigns). So if you want to do regiments during the heyday of Cuirassier armour use then the Bavarians should be in full kit as a rule, though one or two less well equipped men in a unit of 12 figures would not be wrong for a newly raised regiment.

If you want to do units with mixed equipment I would suggest looking at the Imperial army, Wallenstein expanded the army at a rapid pace 1626-29 which created a shortage of arms & armour. Both Swedish and Polish observers noted that the regiments in Hans Georg von Arnim's small Imperial army had a very mixed apperance as far as equipment was concerned.

Wkeyser,
You do like to ask the questions that are hard for me to answer. Best answer at the moment is "not this year", more detailes to follow when possible.
